This artist-made book (edition of 50) is a collection of bush photographs taken in the city of Vancouver. I am struck by the these odd pairings found all over the city. They are so tidy and so deliberate, I think of them as Vancouver's vernacular sculpture. The rapid rate of vegetation growth, makes this the hedge and bush capital of the world. I created this little book in 1992, but continue to take photographs of urban landscapes. My newer work, Series 11, looks at the landscape design of urban and suburban areas as an ongoing process of modernity, but the seed for that newer work was here with this small book.
